Where can I ask for a movie recommendation?

A film-suggestion community with clear request rules — movies only, descriptive titles, and no piracy.

r/MovieSuggestions takes requests for films to watch and asks that you search first and write a descriptive title. Its rules point elsewhere for two common mix-ups: identifying a film you cannot name, and “more like this list” requests without any detail.

Where to ask

r/MovieSuggestions

Best for: Finding films to watch based on a mood, genre or movies you liked.

Why it fits: Its public description: “In the mood for a particular movie? Saw something interesting and want more? Have a favourite movie you want to recommend? Make those Movie Suggestions.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Requests must be primarily about finding specific films to watch; search before posting and use a descriptive title.
  • Movies only — the rules say posts mentioning a TV show in the title are removed.
  • Not for identifying a film you cannot name; the sidebar points those to r/tipofmytongue.
  • Zero tolerance for piracy.
  • Links should go to neutral sources such as TheMovieDB, Letterboxd, Rotten Tomatoes or Wikipedia; YouTube and IMDb are not counted as neutral.
  • No self-promotion; spoiler tags are mandatory for plot details.

Before you post

  • Give a few films you liked and what you liked about them.
  • Mention the mood, era or language you want, and anything you want to avoid.
  • For a film you half-remember, use the forgotten-title page instead.
