Where can I ask a Dungeon Master or D&D prep question?

A Dungeon Master Q&A academy for DMing questions, advice and resources — with sticky threads for first-time/short questions and problem-player posts, plus bans on piracy talk.

DMs looking for encounter prep, ruling help or table advice often need a DM-focused room. r/DMAcademy is for Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Masters to ask questions. First-time and short questions, and problem-player vents, are steered into stickied megathreads.

Where to ask

r/DMAcademy

Best for: DMing questions, advice requests and completed DM resources for Dungeons & Dragons.

Why it fits: Its public description: “/r/DMAcademy is a subreddit for Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Masters to ask questions - new and experienced, all are welcome!”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Respect other DMs — aggressive bigotry, slurs or plain rudeness can mean a permanent ban.
  • Only DMing questions, advice and (completed/approved) resources — not open-ended off-topic chat.
  • External links and advertising are restricted — describe links and participate beyond your own promo.
  • No discussion of piracy.
  • Problem-player posts belong in the stickied megathread.
  • First-time DM and other short/repetitive questions belong in the stickied megathread, not as new top-level posts.

Read r/DMAcademy’s current rules on Reddit

Before you post

  • Put the system (for example 5e), party level and the specific stuck point in the first lines.
  • Board-game rules questions that are not D&D fit the board-game-rules where-to-post page.
  • Player-side rules debates also appear in broader D&D discussion rooms — still read those rules and flair requirements.
