Where can I ask a language-learning question?

A cross-language learning community for methods and study questions — not single-language homework dumps or tutor ads.

r/languagelearning is for people learning languages in general: methods, schedules and learner questions. Single-language homework and translation requests usually belong elsewhere.

Where to ask

r/languagelearning

Best for: How-to-learn questions, study methods and cross-language learner discussion.

Why it fits: Its public description: “A community for anybody interested in learning other languages. Whether you are just starting, a polyglot or a language nerd, this is the place for you!”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Read the wiki and FAQ before asking basic questions that are already answered there.
  • Do not focus a post on one popular language — those usually belong in that language’s own community.
  • No language-exchange requests, tutor ads, homework help or low-quality “polyglot flex” videos.
  • Self-owned content is limited (infrequent, high quality).
  • Stay civil; no bigoted generalizations about groups of people.

Read r/languagelearning’s current rules on Reddit

Before you post

  • Ask about methods or resources in general terms; put language-specific drills in that language’s subreddit.
  • For a short translation request, use the translation communities instead.
  • Say your current level and goal (travel, reading, exams) so advice can match.
