Where can I ask for help fixing a household appliance?

An appliances discussion room for washer, dryer, fridge, oven and similar repair or buying questions — ads stay in a sticky, and posts need to stay appliance-related.

When a washer won’t spin, a dryer won’t heat or a fridge is making a new noise, people often want appliance-specific troubleshooting rather than a general home-repair thread. r/Appliances covers almost anything related to household appliances, including repair and buying questions. It is not a free advertising board for service companies.

Where to ask

r/Appliances

Best for: Repair, diagnosis and buying questions about household appliances such as washers, dryers, ovens and refrigerators.

Why it fits: Its public description: “This sub-reddit is for almost anything related to appliances. Need to fix your stove, cook-top, oven, refrigerator, washer or dryer? Thinking about buying a new one? You've come to the right place!”

Rules to know before posting:

  • No advertising or useless buy-link dumps — legit reviews and “I love this fridge” posts are fine; ad-style sales belong in the sticky where ads are allowed.
  • No hate speech or deeply personal attacks.
  • Keep posts and comments appliance-related (or at least appliance-adjacent).

Before you post

  • Name the brand, model, error codes and what you already tried — photos of the control panel and labels help.
  • Gas, sealed-system refrigerant or high-voltage work may need a licensed technician; peer tips are not a service call.
  • HVAC whole-home heating and cooling questions fit the HVAC where-to-post page better than a single-appliance thread.
