Where can I identify a watch from a photo?

A large watches discussion community that accepts identification posts when titles and captions follow its format rules.

r/Watches allows identification requests when you follow its title and caption rules. Replica or counterfeit showcases are banned; fake-check requests belong only in the Friday megathread.

Where to ask

r/Watches

Best for: Identifying a wrist or pocket watch from clear photos, with an [Identify] title tag.

Why it fits: Its public description: “A subreddit for discussion of wrist watches and pocket watches.” Community posting rules explicitly mention [Identify] / [Identification] titled posts.

Rules to know before posting:

  • Start the title with [brackets]; identification posts use tags such as [Identify] or [Identification].
  • Image posts need a substantial caption about the watch (community character minimums apply; identification posts follow the same posting rules).
  • No counterfeit or replica watches for show-off purposes.
  • Fake/legit checks belong only in the Friday megathread.
  • No AI-generated content and no promotional shop links.

Before you post

  • Show the dial, case back, clasp and any reference numbers if visible.
  • Vintage pieces roughly 25+ years old may also get attention in r/VintageWatches, which requires the watch to be vintage.
  • Do not post replicas as if they were genuine — that breaks the main watches community rules.
