Where can I ask for knitting pattern or technique help?

A knitting-help room for technique and pattern troubleshooting — with strict copyright limits on how much of a pattern you may show.

r/knittinghelp exists so knitters can ask concrete technique and pattern questions. Show only the stuck section of a pattern, not enough chart or text for someone else to recreate the whole project.

Where to ask

r/knittinghelp

Best for: Stitch troubleshooting, pattern interpretation and technique questions at any skill level.

Why it fits: Its public description: “fostering a positive learning environment where anyone with any knitting ability can ask knitting questions.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Be kind — no threats, harassment, insults or incitement.
  • Use helpful flair and mark the question solved when you can.
  • No commission requests; the room is for teaching, not hiring someone to finish the work.
  • Respect international copyright: do not post full patterns or enough of a chart that a competent knitter could recreate the item.
  • No finished-object, WIP or stash show-off posts — those belong in the main knitting community.

Before you post

  • Photo the exact rows that confuse you, plus yarn weight and needle size.
  • Finished projects and inspiration photos belong in r/knitting, not the help room.
  • AI-written patterns are a known moderation concern in knitting-help spaces — say if a pattern source is unclear.
