Where can I ask for cat behavior or care advice?

A cat-advice community for behavior and husbandry questions — with a hard ban on medical advice requests.

r/CatAdvice takes non-medical cat questions: litter habits after a vet check, enrichment, introductions and everyday care. Anything medical is redirected to veterinary communities.

Where to ask

r/CatAdvice

Best for: Non-medical cat behavior, enrichment and care questions.

Why it fits: Its public description: “There are no dumb questions, except the ones asking for medical advice which is prohibited. Read the rules and the FAQ first.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Respect everyone; no discrimination, harassment or abuse.
  • No medical advice whatsoever — litterbox medical issues need a vet first; use AskVet for clinical questions.
  • No promotion of inhumane practices such as declawing or punishment-based methods.
  • Do not give specific raw or home-cooked diet instructions without steering people to a veterinary nutritionist.
  • No advertising, fundraisers, surveys or petitions.
  • Use descriptive titles — not bare “help” or “urgent”.

Before you post

  • Say age, multi-cat household or not, and how long the behavior has lasted.
  • Vomiting, pain, urinary blockage signs or sudden behavior changes are vet emergencies first.
  • Dog training questions belong on the dog-training page.
