Where can I ask for baking help?

A baking Q&A room for technique and failed-bake troubleshooting — with required flair, recipes in help posts, and recipe requests steered to a weekly thread.

When a cake collapses, a cookie spreads too far or a pastry technique will not click, bakers usually want a place that answers process questions rather than a general cooking board. r/AskBaking is built for baking-related questions and result troubleshooting. It is not a free recipe-request board, a shop-pricing clinic or a business-startup forum.

Where to ask

r/AskBaking

Best for: Technique questions and diagnosing a bake that did not turn out as expected.

Why it fits: Its public description: “This subreddit is devoted to the discussion of questions related to baking, the process, and requests for help on your results!”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Be kind — disrespect is not tolerated, and downvotes are not a disagreement button.
  • Keep posts to baking-related questions and discussion.
  • Recipe requests belong only in the weekly thread — not as standalone posts.
  • Flair every post; unflaired posts may be removed.
  • When asking why a bake failed, include the recipe and steps — low-effort “what’s wrong with this?” posts without details are removed.
  • No self-promotion, pricing/business-startup threads, soliciting, NSFW or spam; limit how often you post in a day.

Before you post

  • Paste the recipe (or write out video recipes) and say oven temperature, pan size and what you changed.
  • Bread-only questions can also fit bread-focused baking communities; everyday stove cooking belongs on the cooking where-to-post page.
  • Do not expect shop-pricing or bakery-business advice here — those topics are against the room’s rules.
