Where can I ask about moving abroad?

An expats community for living-abroad and relocation logistics questions — with a research-first rule and a separate immigration-title room when you are still choosing a destination.

Questions about packing, settling and day-to-day life after a move fit expatriate communities. Destination-and-visa strategy has stricter title formats elsewhere, and none of these rooms replace licensed immigration advice.

Where to ask

r/expats

Best for: Living-abroad logistics, packing, settling in and questions from people who already have a destination in mind.

Why it fits: Its public description: “reddit's best expats sub.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Posts must relate to expatriation — living in or emigrating to another country, or sharing relevant experience.
  • Be civil; discriminatory attacks are banned.
  • Do basic research first; if you are not yet an expat, ask specific questions about a specific destination and provide relevant context.
  • No blog, vlog or article link posts as top-level submissions.
  • No surveys and no “why does this country suck / why did you leave?” vent threads.

Before you post

  • Name origin and destination countries, timeline and whether you already have a visa path.
  • For “where can I move legally?” style planning, see IWantOut’s title-format rules, and use the visa where-to-post page for filing questions.
  • Passport renewal itself belongs on the passport page; keep this thread about the move and life after arrival.
