Where can I ask a podcasting or podcast-gear question?

A makers’ podcasting community for process, gear and marketing discussion — episode dumps and product pitches belong in weekly threads, not as standalone promo posts.

People starting a show usually need gear, editing workflow and distribution questions answered by other makers. r/podcasting is for people who make podcasts. It is not a free episode-promotion board outside the weekly episode thread.

Where to ask

r/podcasting

Best for: How-to, gear, news and marketing questions from people making podcasts.

Why it fits: Its public description: “For people who make podcasts. Topics include podcasting news, how to guides, gear, marketing, and anything related to podcasters.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Do not post standalone podcast self-promo or thinly veiled feedback requests — use the weekly episode thread (Thursday morning Eastern).
  • Product/service promo needs pre-approval or the weekly product thread.
  • No milestone/kudos posts that function as promo.
  • Be civil; do not report posts merely because you dislike them.
  • Automod may remove posts from accounts under 5 karma or under 7 days old, and posts with empty body text.
  • No calls for review exchanges.
  • Disclose affiliations when you talk about a product, service or event you are tied to.
  • Trailer swaps belong in the Friday trailer-exchange thread only.

Before you post

  • Ask a concrete process question (mic chain, loudness, hosting) rather than only dropping an episode link.
  • YouTube channel growth questions fit the YouTube where-to-post page; Twitch streaming has its own communities.
  • Video editing tool issues may fit the video-editing where-to-post page.
