Where can I ask an Arduino or component-level electronics question?

An Arduino help community plus a component-level electronics Q&A room — detailed schematics/code expected, with bans on dangerous projects and off-topic general programming dumps.

Microcontroller wiring and circuit questions need electronics rooms, not only general coding forums. r/Arduino welcomes Arduino questions with detail. r/AskElectronics focuses on component-level circuit design, repair and tools — not general app programming.

Where to ask

r/Arduino

Best for: Arduino project questions when you can share board, wiring, code and the failure mode.

Why it fits: Its public description: “An unofficial place for all things Arduino! … Bring us your Arduino questions or help answer something you might know!”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Be kind — especially to beginners; no witch hunts or heavy NSFW behavior.
  • Be descriptive — board model, components, code, goal and what went wrong.
  • Be helpful — low-quality, meme, bot, stolen or political/religious off-topic content is removed.
  • Grow the community — don’t use the room only as an unpaid promo channel for a monetized external presence.
  • No potentially dangerous projects (weapons, medical devices and similar harmful builds as framed by the room).

r/AskElectronics

Best for: Practical component-level circuit design, repair, parts and test-gear questions.

Why it fits: Its public description: “A subreddit for practical questions about component-level electronic circuits: design, repair, component buying, test gear and tools.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Comments must be civil and helpful.
  • Questions must be on-topic, explanatory, non-commercial and original — chip-level signal coding can fit; general programming does not.
  • Titles and bodies must clearly summarize the question — photo-only diagnosis posts without explanation are removed.
  • Extra rules apply to vehicle electronics questions — read that wiki section before posting car electrical topics.
  • Search the sidebar/wiki/FAQ before repeating covered questions.
  • Joke comments that do not help can be deleted instantly.
  • Unsafe advice is removed — DIY microwave-oven repair questions are deleted.

Before you post

  • Post a clear photo of the wiring plus the schematic you intended — “it doesn’t work” alone rarely gets far.
  • General Python/Arduino-adjacent code structure questions may still fit coding or Python where-to-post pages when the issue is not electrical.
  • Mains wiring and household electrical work may require a licensed electrician — peer hobby advice is not a permit.
