Where can I ask a bike repair question?

A repair-focused cycling workshop community for “how do I fix this?” questions — not build showcases or ride reports.

r/bikewrench exists for bicycle repair questions. Clear photos and the exact symptom help more than a vague “my bike is broken” title.

Where to ask

r/bikewrench

Best for: Hands-on bike repair and maintenance questions with photos or a clear failure description.

Why it fits: Its public description: “A community of cyclists - some with questions, some answers.” Its rules limit the room to repair questions.

Rules to know before posting:

  • Repair questions only — not build show-offs, shop stories or “is this cracked / safe to ride?” guesses from a photo.
  • Stay on topic; jokes and sarcasm in replies are not wanted.
  • Play nice — hostility is a quick path to a ban.
  • If you have to ask whether a cracked part is safe, do not ride it — take it to a bike shop.

Before you post

  • Name the component (brake, hub, derailleur, tire) and show clear photos of the area.
  • Say whether the bike is road, gravel, MTB or e-bike — torque and parts differ.
  • For buying advice or route chatter, prefer broader cycling communities instead of the wrench room.
