Where can I ask a medical question online?

A community with mod-verified medical professionals, and what it does not do.

r/AskDocs is built for personal health questions answered by flaired professionals. It is not for emergencies, and an online reply cannot examine you.

Where to ask

r/AskDocs

Best for: A specific personal health question about you or a family member.

Why it fits: Its public description: “Ask a doctor or medical professional on Reddit! All flaired medical professionals on this subreddit are verified by the mods.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Age and sex are mandatory; list diagnoses and medications.
  • Personal questions only — no general or hypothetical questions.
  • No emergencies: contact your local emergency number.
  • Only verified, flaired users may write top-level comments; no AI responses.

Before you post

  • In an emergency, call your local emergency number — do not wait for a post.
  • Describe symptoms, how long you’ve had them, and what you’ve tried.
  • General object-ID communities (for example r/whatisit and r/Whatisthis) do not accept medical or pill questions.
