Where can I ask a coffee brewing or gear question?

A specialty-coffee discussion community for beans, brewing and gear talk — with hard limits on promotion, affiliates, medical advice and low-effort posts.

Coffee questions range from grind size and water temperature to which brewer fits a budget. r/Coffee is a large enthusiast room for coffee-focused discussion. It is not a place for health claims, affiliate shopping links or crowdfunding hype.

Where to ask

r/Coffee

Best for: Brewing technique, beans and specialty-coffee discussion with enough detail to teach something useful.

Why it fits: Its Coffee Focus rule expects posts about coffee beans or beverages (and specialty coffee when industry-focused), and the room removes low-substance questions at mod discretion.

Rules to know before posting:

  • Stay on-topic to coffee beans, beverages or specialty coffee — thin lifestyle posts may be removed.
  • Image and video posts need an educational or informative reason, not meme or “pretty cup” content alone.
  • Low-effort posts and vague questions may be removed.
  • Be civil; gatekeeping and elitist nonsense are not welcome.
  • No self-promotion, sockpuppetry, affiliates/referrals, crowdfunding, surveys or medical/health-advice seeking.
  • Product-release hype and unreleased-product chatter are restricted; mods may remove edge cases for community health.

Before you post

  • Say your brewer, grinder, dose, grind setting and what tastes off — vague “how do I make better coffee?” posts struggle.
  • Health or caffeine-side-effect questions do not belong here; use a medical where-to-post page for clinical concerns.
  • Buying questions still need substance — the room is hard on promotional and affiliate links.
