Where can I ask about the car-buying process at a dealership?

A dealership-process Q&A room where flaired industry people answer — with required vehicle/location/payment details, no VIN checks, and model-choice questions steered to whatcarshouldIbuy.

Negotiating, financing paperwork and dealership process questions are different from “which model should I buy?” r/askcarsales is for asking vetted industry accounts about the buying process. If you have not chosen a model yet, that room points you to r/whatcarshouldIbuy instead.

Where to ask

r/askcarsales

Best for: Process questions about buying, financing or leasing once you have a vehicle in mind — answered primarily by flaired industry accounts.

Why it fits: Its public description: “A place to ask professionals in various aspects of the industry your questions. Top level replies are from accounts that have been vetted and flaired. If you have not decided what car you wish to buy, please use /r/whatcarshouldibuy.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Include model, year, miles, trim and major options for vehicle-specific questions.
  • State location (country and state/province) and whether you are paying cash, financing or leasing.
  • Format links properly; only flaired salespeople may submit standalone video/blog link posts.
  • No spam, solicitation, buy/sell offers or endorsement/referral pitches.
  • No VIN checks, Carfax/Autocheck-style pulls or free paid services — limited rebate-compatibility VIN help may be an exception noted in the rules.
  • Engage in your thread within 24 hours or it may be deleted.
  • Do not bash the car-sales profession in this industry-run room.
  • Non-flaired users may comment as a courtesy; qualified flaired users are the intended advisors.
  • Car choosing / “what should I buy?” posts belong in r/whatcarshouldIbuy or a make/model community.

Before you post

  • If you still need model advice, start on r/whatcarshouldIbuy rather than askcarsales.
  • Mechanical breakdown diagnosis fits the car-problem where-to-post page, not a dealership-process thread.
  • Replies are peer/industry discussion — not a substitute for reading your contract.
