Where can I ask for spreadsheet or Excel formula help?

An Excel community for formula and spreadsheet troubleshooting with strict title, example-data and text-post requirements.

r/excel is the main public room for spreadsheet formula and workbook questions. Good posts show sample data and a clear expected result; learning-resource requests are pointed at the wiki instead of a new thread.

Where to ask

r/excel

Best for: Formula, pivot, Power Query and workbook troubleshooting questions with sample data.

Why it fits: Its public description: “A vibrant community of Excel enthusiasts. Get expert tips, ask questions, and share your love for all things Excel.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Titles must summarize the specific issue — no bare pleas for help or square [HELP] tags except allowed tags such as [VBA].
  • Provide specific examples, screenshots or tables; strip personal data.
  • Use the appropriate flair (unsolved for questions).
  • Text posts only — you may insert images inside the post, but link-only or image-only posts are removed.
  • Learning-resource requests belong in the wiki megathread, not as standalone “how do I learn Excel?” posts.
  • Close solved threads by replying “Solution Verified” to the working answer.

Before you post

  • Paste a small anonymized table and the exact output you want.
  • Say which Excel platform you use — Windows desktop, Mac, Excel 365, or Sheets if relevant — because functions differ.
  • Homework-style “do this whole assignment” posts belong under the homework-help guidance instead of dumping a full brief here.
