Where can I ask a chess question or post a game for analysis?

A large chess discussion community for theory, tournaments and analysis — civil and on-topic, with bans on low-quality jokes, unfounded cheating claims and using the room mainly for self-promo; absolute beginners are pointed to chessbeginners.

Opening questions, annotated games and tournament discussion fit chess communities. r/chess covers the game broadly, including analysis and theory. Brand-new players are directed toward beginner rooms in its description, and low-effort joke posts belong elsewhere.

  • No low-quality submissions (jokes, unanalyzed dump posts and similar as listed).
  • No off-topic non-chess submissions.
  • Do not politicize the room beyond chess-centered necessity.

  • Unfounded or non-newsworthy cheating accusations are not allowed.
  • Do not ask how to cheat or seek feedback on a still-active game.
  • Social-media and result posts must meet the room’s sourcing/quality bars.

Before you post

  • Absolute beginners often get clearer answers in beginner chess communities first.
  • Post the PGN or a clear diagram plus the question (“why is this move wrong?”) rather than only a screenshot dump.
  • Board-game rules outside chess fit the board-game-rules where-to-post page.
