Where can I ask a video editing question?

A hobbyist video-editing help community — critique and “what software?” asks go in megathreads, with hard bans on piracy and client-rate polling.

Hobby editors troubleshooting timelines, codecs or beginner workflows often use r/VideoEditing. It is aimed at hobby and amateur editors, with a professional sister community for pro work. Feedback, hardware/software shopping and rate questions are constrained by megathreads and rules.

Where to ask

r/VideoEditing

Best for: Hobby and amateur editing technique and workflow questions.

Why it fits: Its public description: “This subreddit is geared towards hobby/amateur editor. We have a professional sister sub /r/editors — and an Ask a Pro thread there for aspirational (but professional) questions.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • Don’t be a jerk.
  • Feedback, critique and “what software/hardware?” questions belong in the megathread.
  • Zero piracy or IP-circumvention discussion.
  • Pick either this room or the professional editors room — don’t cross-post both casually.
  • No rate questions, no advertising editing services, no URL shorteners, no spammy license-abusive tools.
  • Tutorials on Tuesday with formatting rules; no free-work harvesting; no YouTube-channel promotion dumps; Discord ads are unwelcome.
