Where can I ask a home networking question?

A home and small-office networking help community — with bans on ads, affiliates and advice for bypassing network restrictions.

Wi-Fi dead zones, router setups and small-office LAN questions belong in networking rooms rather than general PC troubleshooting. r/HomeNetworking invites help requests for home or small-office networks. It will not help you bypass someone else’s network restrictions.

Where to ask

r/HomeNetworking

Best for: Home or small-office network design, Wi-Fi and LAN troubleshooting questions.

Why it fits: Its public description: “HomeNetworking is a place where anyone can ask for help with their home or small office network.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • No ads or self-promotion — stay on topic.
  • Don’t be a jerk; follow Reddiquette.
  • No URL shorteners or affiliate links.
  • Stay on topic; no gatekeeping of “stupid questions.”
  • No advice on bypassing network administrator restrictions.

Before you post

  • Include router/AP models, wired vs wireless, and a simple diagram of what fails.
  • Single-PC software crashes still fit the computer-problem page; this room is for the network path.
  • Do not ask how to evade school, work or parental network controls — those posts are removed.
