Where can I identify a food or drink I can’t name?

A tip-of-the-tongue food community for naming dishes, snacks and ingredients — not food-safety questions.

r/tipofmyfork helps when you remember a taste, texture or photo of a food but not its name. It is not the place to ask whether leftovers are safe to eat.

Where to ask

r/tipofmyfork

Best for: Naming a dish, snack, drink or ingredient from a description or photo.

Why it fits: Its public description: “Want to know what your food is called? Are you searching for the name of that delicious snack from the nineties? What ingredient did your grandma use in her special recipe? Find your food and drinks by asking the community.”

Rules to know before posting:

  • No food-safety questions (“is this safe to eat?”) — those belong in a food-safety community.
  • No moldy-food posts.
  • Be as specific as you can about taste, smell, texture and where you encountered it.
  • Add flair; mark the post solved when you get the answer.
  • No self-promotion; be respectful of foods from cultures that are unfamiliar to you.

Before you post

  • A photo or simple sketch helps more than a one-line description.
  • Say the country or store if you remember it — many foods share similar shapes under different names.
  • If the question is “will this make me sick?”, do not post it here.
