r/DidntKnowIWantedThat is private. When we checked on 7 November 2026, Reddit showed that only approved members can view it. The public description framed it as a place for products you did not know existed until you suddenly wanted them. We know of no official successor. The open communities below still share interesting products or durable buys — with different tones and stricter anti-spam rules. Read each community’s rules before posting.

Communities to try instead
Good for: Closest open match for “I saw this and now I want it” product discovery posts.
Access: open
Rules to know: No dropship junk. Creator/self-promo is limited by a roughly one-in-ten activity rule; accounts that exist mainly to advertise are not welcome. Follow the current sidebar for formatting.

Good for: Durable, practical products — better when the “want” is a long-lasting tool rather than a novelty gadget.
Access: open
Rules to know: Posted products must fit BIFL (durable/practical). No new/unreleased vapourware as the main post. Request posts need useful detail. No affiliate bait or free/discounted review-unit spam. Homemade items are out of scope.

Good for: Single-gadget news and discussion when the find is a device rather than a lifestyle product.
Access: open
Rules to know: One gadget per post. No self-promotion, listicles, direct image links or clickbait titles. Prefer original sources. Pre-release posts have conditions. Stay SFW and civil.

Looks similar, but not a fit
- r/holdmywallet — Also closed — banned for being unmoderated when checked on 7 November 2026 — so it is not a usable destination. (checked 2026-11-07)
- r/ProductReviews — Restricted (viewable, approved posters only). Better for written buying experiences than impulse discovery; see its own SubMouse page. (checked 2026-11-07)
- r/InterestingAF — Also private when checked on 7 November 2026 — interesting-content niche, not a public product board. (checked 2026-11-07)
Product-discovery communities attract affiliate and dropship spam; expect removals. None of these is an official replacement for r/DidntKnowIWantedThat. No acceptance guarantee. Statuses come from the live community page on the check date; Reddit can lift or change a ban at any time. Updated 2026-11-07.
