Alternatives to r/cybershot

r/cybershot is banned. When we checked on 7 November 2026, Reddit showed that the subreddit was banned due to being unmoderated. It had been associated with Sony Cybershot and compact / early digital camera talk. We know of no official successor. The communities below still cover camera buying advice, digital-camera hobby posts or Sony Alpha systems — with different posting rules. Read each community’s rules before posting.

Good for: Camera bodies, lenses and buying advice across brands — the closest general home for “which compact should I get?” questions.

Access: open

Rules to know: Buying-request posts must use the required questionnaire format. No spam, self-promotion, selling or affiliate links. No “what camera took this” ID posts. No AI-generated content. Be civil; bad-faith joke recommendations can earn a ban.

Good for: Sharing photos from older consumer digicams (roughly 2010 and earlier) — a good match if you care about early Cybershot-era cameras.

Access: open

Rules to know: Vintage here means about 2010 or older. Post your own recent photos (not old archives from when the camera was new). Name the camera/model in the title. Use SOOC vs Edited flair. Gear questions are pointed to r/digicam.

Compact and vintage digicam communities differ from modern mirrorless forums. None of these is an official replacement for r/cybershot, and a post may still be removed or get no replies.
