Alternatives to r/SoftwareDeals

Discounted software, apps, SaaS and non-game digital tools · Status when checked: Banned (2026-11-07)

r/SoftwareDeals is banned. When we checked on 7 November 2026, Reddit showed that the subreddit was banned due to being used for spam (takeover requests go through r/redditrequest). It had been associated with software, app and non-game digital-tool discounts. We know of no official successor. The communities below still cover general deals, software bundles or app discovery — with different scopes and rules. Read each community’s rules before posting.

Communities to try instead

r/deals

Good for: Broad online shopping deals including software when the offer is a real retailer discount — the closest general deals board still open.

Access: open

Rules to know: No prohibited items (firearms, drugs/alcohol/tobacco, crypto, pirated software, counterfeits). Posts must link directly to the offer with the sale price in the title. No drop-shipping/Shopify self-promo or “PM me.” Affiliate/associate links have limits; referral signup links belong in the monthly megathread. Region tags when a deal is country-limited.

r/humblebundles

Good for: Humble Bundle / Humble Choice discussion — often includes software and book bundles alongside games.

Access: open

Rules to know: No NSFW. No giveaways (Humble guidance). No posting full product keys (bots steal them). Off-topic complaints and unauthorized calls-to-action/boycotts can be removed.

r/software

Good for: Software recommendations and how-to discussion — better for “what tool should I use?” than flash-sale spam.

Access: open

Rules to know: Avoid low-effort posts; use clear grammar and search the wiki/FAQ before repeating common questions. Self-promotion is limited.

r/iosapps

Good for: iOS App Store apps, free/paid discoveries and developer posts — useful when the “deal” is an App Store price drop or free unlock.

Access: open

Rules to know: Main-feed promo needs account age/karma and App Store tenure; otherwise use the App Shelf megathread. PCP (problem/comparison/pricing) required for promo posts. No games, no affiliate/invite links, no engagement-for-codes. Limited self-promo cadence.

Looks similar, but not a fit

  • r/softwaregore (profile on SubMouse) — Open humour community for unintentional software malfunctions — not a deals or pricing board. (checked 2026-11-07)
  • r/windowsapps — Open Windows app discussion with light developer promo limits — useful for Win apps, but not a general software-discount feed. (checked 2026-11-07)

Spam bans mean aggressive deal-posting was a problem historically — expect strict filters elsewhere. Pirated or cracked software is prohibited on Reddit and on r/deals. None of these is an official replacement for r/SoftwareDeals. Statuses come from the live community page on the check date; Reddit can lift or change a ban at any time. Updated 2026-11-07.
