Reddit List: the largest and fastest-growing subreddits
For years, people who wanted to know how big a subreddit was, or which communities were taking off, checked RedditList.com. Its numbers stopped moving long ago, so we built a list that does: the 100 biggest safe-for-work subreddits (2.2B subscriptions combined), the ones growing fastest right now, and the best communities by subject, refreshed every day from public data.

The 100 largest subreddits by members
Ranked by subscriber count on Oct 30, 2026. “Posts/day” is the average number of new posts over the last four weeks, a better sign of how alive a community is than its size: some of the biggest subreddits are old defaults that people joined once and never visit. Growth is the change in members since Oct 19.

Fastest-growing subreddits
The communities among the 997 largest that gained the biggest share of new members between Oct 19 and Oct 30 (11 days). Percentage growth favours mid-sized communities, so the second table shows who added the most members in absolute terms.

What happened to RedditList.com?
RedditList.com tracked the top 5,000 subreddits by subscribers and growth and was, for a long time, the place to check Reddit rankings. Its data stopped refreshing years ago. The domain still loads, but its tables are frozen: r/funny, for example, is shown with about 25 million subscribers, while today it has 67.6M. Its security certificate expired in March 2025, so browsers warn visitors before opening it.
Keeping a list like this running became harder in 2023, when Reddit started charging for heavy use of its data API (from July 1, 2023) and limited the free tier, which led many third-party Reddit tools to close. This page uses a small, polite daily snapshot of public figures instead of mass API calls, which is why it can stay current.
How to use this list
- Size is not activity. Compare members with posts per day: a community with fewer members but hundreds of posts a day is usually livelier than a giant default subreddit.
- Fast growth often means news. A sudden jump usually follows a launch, a game release or a viral story; check Trending on Reddit for the story behind it.
- Read the rules before posting. Each subreddit is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our subreddit pages summarise the rules, and our guide to searching Reddit helps you see what a community likes before you post.
- Look one up. For any community not listed here, the subreddit info tool shows its size, activity and rules.
Frequently asked questions
Is RedditList.com still working?
The redditlist.com domain still answers, but its rankings stopped updating years ago: it still shows r/funny with about 25 million subscribers, while the community has 67.6M today. Its security certificate also expired in March 2025, so most browsers show a warning before opening it. This page is an independent list with fresh numbers; it is not connected to RedditList.com.
What is the largest subreddit?
By subscribers it is r/announcements (302,607,058 on Oct 30, 2026), but that number is inflated because for years every new Reddit account was subscribed to it automatically. The largest regular community is r/funny with 67,639,796 members.
Which subreddit is growing fastest right now?
Among the 997 largest safe-for-work subreddits, r/ClaudeAI grew fastest over the last 11 days: +30,156 members (+2.50%). Smaller communities can grow faster in percentage terms, but they are outside this list.
How often is this Reddit list updated?
Every day. A small job takes a fresh subscriber snapshot each night around 04:40 (Paris time) and rebuilds the page. The posts-per-day figures are refreshed weekly from the Arctic Shift archive.
Where do the numbers come from?
Subscriber counts come from public subreddit data (the reddapi.dev subreddit index, checked against our weekly snapshots). Posting activity is counted from the public Arctic Shift Reddit archive. We do not estimate or invent missing figures: if a number is not available, the table shows a dash.
Why are NSFW subreddits missing?
This list only covers safe-for-work communities. Subreddits marked as adult (over 18) are left out entirely, together with a handful of communities built around piracy or counterfeit goods.
How can I find subreddits about a specific topic?
Use the category tables further down this page or the topic pages, which list the active communities for a subject ranked by size. For a community we do not list, the free subreddit info tool shows its members, activity and rules.
Sources: public subreddit subscriber counts (reddapi.dev index; daily snapshot Oct 30, 2026, weekly ranking Oct 29, 2026), posting activity from the Arctic Shift archive, topic lists from Reddit's public subreddit search. Numbers are as reported by Reddit and can include inactive accounts. SubMouse is not affiliated with Reddit or RedditList.com.
