How the Nintendo communities compare
The three largest communities hold about 69% of the combined membership, but the rest of the list is far from empty — that is where most of the specialised discussion happens. Size and activity don't line up perfectly: r/NintendoSwitch has the most members, but r/zelda gets the most new posts (about 96 a day, against 54 in r/NintendoSwitch). Per member, the liveliest is r/NintendoSwitch2: 79 posts a day from 90K members — a smaller crowd, but an engaged one. Among the communities we track weekly, r/3DS grew fastest recently (+0.12%, +1.4K members since Oct 19). The oldest is r/nintendo, founded in 2008, and only one community here is younger than five years: r/NintendoSwitch2 (2021).

Choosing where to post
Competition for attention differs a lot: r/nintendo has 2.4M members but only about 16 new posts a day — roughly one new post for every 149K members — while r/zelda gets about 96 a day, one for every 34.9K. A strong, well-made post therefore has more room to be seen in r/nintendo; r/zelda is better when you want quick replies. Jokes and memes have their own home in r/NintendoMemes; the serious communities tend to remove them, so keep the two apart. Rule sets vary: of the communities we have rules for, r/zelda lists 13, against 6 in r/nintendo, so a post that is fine in one can be removed in another.
Before posting, sort a subreddit by “Top” for the past month: it shows in a minute what that community rewards. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
