Best Pokémon Subreddits (October 2026)

Looking for the right Pokémon community on Reddit? Here is the lay of the land. We checked the communities Reddit returns for “pokemon”, kept the public, safe-for-work ones with at least 25,000 members that are still posting, and ranked the 18 that remain by size. Together they have 18.1M members.

How the Pokémon communities compare

The three largest communities hold about 67% of the combined membership, but the rest of the list is far from empty — that is where most of the specialised discussion happens. Size and activity don't line up perfectly: r/pokemongo has the most members, but r/PokemonGoFriends gets the most new posts (about 473 a day, against 295 in r/pokemongo). Per member, the liveliest is r/PokemonHome: 239 posts a day from 83K members — a smaller crowd, but an engaged one. Among the communities we track weekly, r/PokemonTCG grew fastest recently (+0.29%, +4.1K members since Oct 19). The oldest is r/pokemon, founded in 2008; 2 of the 18 were started in the last five years, a sign the topic keeps splitting into new niches.

Choosing where to post

Competition for attention differs a lot: r/PokemonScarletViolet has 1.4M members but only about 25 new posts a day — roughly one new post for every 54.8K members — while r/PokemonGoFriends gets about 473 a day, one for every 2.8K. A strong, well-made post therefore has more room to be seen in r/PokemonScarletViolet; r/PokemonGoFriends is better when you want quick replies. Jokes and memes have their own home in r/pokemonmemes; the serious communities tend to remove them, so keep the two apart. Rule sets vary: of the communities we have rules for, r/pokemon lists 15, against 8 in r/pokemongo, so a post that is fine in one can be removed in another.

A simple rule of thumb: ask questions in the specialised communities and share your best finds in the big ones, where they can reach the most people. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
