Best Anime & Manga Subreddits (October 2026)

If you're into anime and manga, Reddit has more than one home for you. We checked the communities Reddit returns for “anime” and “manga”, kept the public, safe-for-work ones with at least 25,000 members that are still posting, and ranked the 10 that remain by size. Together they have 36.8M members.

How the anime and manga communities compare

The three largest communities hold about 68% of the combined membership, but the rest of the list is far from empty — that is where most of the specialised discussion happens. r/anime is both the biggest and the busiest, with about 234 new posts a day. Per member, the liveliest is r/bleach: 120 posts a day from 1.6M members — a smaller crowd, but an engaged one. Among the communities we track weekly, r/bleach grew fastest recently (+0.16%, +2.5K members since Oct 19). The oldest is r/anime, founded in 2008, and every community here is more than five years old — this is a long-established corner of Reddit.

Choosing where to post

If you have a question, start in r/Animesuggest: it is set up for exactly that, and with about 23 new posts a day there are plenty of people around to answer. Asking the same thing in r/anime often gets it removed or lost among the 234 daily posts. Competition for attention differs a lot: r/anime_irl has 5.8M members but only about 42 new posts a day — roughly one new post for every 138.8K members — while r/anime gets about 234 a day, one for every 62K. A strong, well-made post therefore has more room to be seen in r/anime_irl; r/anime is better when you want quick replies. Jokes and memes have their own homes in r/animememes and r/wholesomeanimemes; the serious communities tend to remove them, so keep the two apart. Rule sets vary: of the communities we have rules for, r/anime lists 14, against 8 in r/AnimeSketch, so a post that is fine in one can be removed in another.

Before posting, sort a subreddit by “Top” for the past month: it shows in a minute what that community rewards. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
