General music room vs lesser-known track discovery

r/Music calls itself Reddit’s #1 music community. r/listentothis is framed as a musical community oriented to listening recommendations, with rules that remove posts that exceed a popularity threshold and that police format, covers/remixes of popular songs, and unofficial channels.

Both sit in the live Top cut (Music about 38.6M, rank #7; listentothis about 17.9M, rank #51). Activity samples are video-heavy for both; Music is far busier in our window (roughly 263 vs 36 posts per day).

Short rule titles show the product difference. Music bans Hall of Fame songs, clickbait, posting your own music, and request-style posts, and requires Artist – Title [Genre] formatting. listentothis’s titles centre on popularity limits, format, self-promotion, and covers/remixes of popular artists. Share or discuss within Music’s rules; bring under-the-radar listens that clear listentothis’s threshold and format rules there.

  • r/listentothis: discovery; popularity threshold and format rules.
  • Both have full SubMouse community pages. Pick by whether the track is a deep cut or general music content.
