Do-this tips vs you-should-know facts

r/LifeProTips is for tips that improve your life in one way or another. r/YouShouldKnow is for posts that present a fact or concept as something you should know, with a required “Why YSK:” explanation in the body.

Both have SubMouse pages (LifeProTips about 23.1M, rank #27; YouShouldKnow about 5.6M, rank #152). Samples are text-only; LifeProTips is busier in our window (roughly 16 vs 4 posts per day).

Collected short rule titles enforce different formats. LifeProTips requires LPT / LPT Request titles and flair, and bans tips that are mere common sense, unethical/illegal, or based on unsubstantiated claims. YouShouldKnow requires a YSK title plus “Why YSK:” in the body, and bans social-media meta YSKs, referral links, conspiracy framing and political call-to-arms posts. Share a concrete how-to tip on LifeProTips; share a verified-feeling fact people overlook on YouShouldKnow—after matching each title format.

  • r/LifeProTips: actionable tips; titles start with LPT / LPT Request (collected title).
  • r/YouShouldKnow: facts with Why YSK: in the body (collected title).
  • Format is the filter. Both have full SubMouse community pages.

Where this comparison comes from

Public descriptions and member counts from SubMouse’s safe-for-work directory. Short rule titles and activity samples collected for both. Short titles only.

Members and public descriptions come from SubMouse's safe-for-work directory (as of 2026-11-02 UTC); 7-day growth measured from 2026-10-26. Posts/day and post-type mixes appear when we have an activity sample. Rule lines are short titles, not the full sidebar. Directory rank is listing order — communities outside the current Top 100 open in the info tool instead of a full community page.
