Question-format rules vs fast specific-situation advice

r/relationships describes a platform for interpersonal advice and seeks posts about specific, personal situations; its collected titles center on required elements, acceptable question types and a list of bad questions. r/relationship_advice covers romance, friendship, family, co-workers and basic human interaction.

Both have SubMouse pages (relationships about 3.8M, rank #261; relationship_advice about 15.9M, rank #57) and list each other as related. Both samples are all text; relationship_advice is much busier in our window (roughly 755 vs 218 posts per day).

relationship_advice’s titles require a title, description, TLDR and basic info like ages and genders, a specific real situation, no yes/no moral-judgment questions, and only one update. Post in relationship_advice when you want many fast replies on a concrete situation; use relationships when your question fits its accepted question types and you can follow its stricter format. (dating_advice vs relationship_advice covers the dating-stage split.)

Where this comparison comes from

Public descriptions, member counts and related links from SubMouse’s safe-for-work directory. Short rule titles and activity samples collected for both. Short titles only.

Members and public descriptions come from SubMouse's safe-for-work directory (as of 2026-11-02 UTC); 7-day growth measured from 2026-10-26. Posts/day and post-type mixes appear when we have an activity sample. Rule lines are short titles, not the full sidebar. Directory rank is listing order — communities outside the current Top 100 open in the info tool instead of a full community page.
