Tech news desk vs single-gadget posts

r/technology is for news and discussion about the creation and use of technology and its surrounding issues. r/gadgets is narrower: posts must be about a single gadget.

Both are Top-cut link communities (technology about 20.6M, rank #37; gadgets about 22.8M, rank #28). Activity samples are link-heavy; technology is far busier in our window (roughly 110 vs 4 posts per day).

Short rule titles show the scope split. technology: submissions must be about technology; no images/audio/video; titles from the article; no technical support; no petitions/surveys/crowdfunding. gadgets: posts must be about a single gadget; no self-promotion; support original sources; no listicles; no direct image links; no clickbait. Bring policy, industry and broad tech news to technology; bring a specific device write-up that clears gadgets’ single-gadget rule there.

  • r/technology: tech news and issues; no support questions or media posts.
  • r/gadgets: one gadget per post; no listicles or self-promo.
  • Both have full SubMouse community pages.
