Build-planning advice vs PC deal hunting

r/buildapc is for planning custom PC assembly and asking the community for input. r/buildapcsales is for links to PC parts and accessories on sale.

Both have SubMouse pages (buildapc about 8.5M, rank #89; buildapcsales about 0.96M). Activity samples match the split: buildapc is text-heavy and busy (roughly 203 posts/day); buildapcsales is link-only and quieter (roughly 12).

Short rule titles enforce the wall between advice and deals. buildapc bans sales/deals posts, hardware news/reviews, laptops/prebuilts and build-spoonfeeding. buildapcsales centres on deal, post and brand-rep guidelines. Plan a parts list in buildapc; post a qualifying sale in buildapcsales. (pcmasterrace remains the broader PC culture neighbour.)

  • r/buildapc: custom build advice; no sales/deals or laptop/prebuilt threads.
  • r/buildapcsales: on-sale PC part links; follow deal/post guidelines.
  • Advice vs shopping. Both have full SubMouse community pages.
