How the golf communities compare
Membership is concentrated: the three largest communities hold 93% of all members on this list, so most of the golf conversation happens in a handful of places. r/golf is both the biggest and the busiest, with about 79 new posts a day. Per member, the liveliest is r/Golf_R: 17 posts a day from 42.4K members — a smaller crowd, but an engaged one. The oldest is r/golf, founded in 2008, and every community here is more than five years old — this is a long-established corner of Reddit.

Choosing where to post
For beginner questions, r/golftips is the natural first stop — it exists for advice, and roughly 6.0 new threads a day keep it moving. Asking the same thing in r/golf often gets it removed or lost among the 79 daily posts.
Big subreddits give a post the widest audience, but they also bury it quickly; the mid-sized communities on this list are usually friendlier for questions and first posts. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
