Best Reptiles Subreddits (November 2026)

Looking for the right reptiles community on Reddit? Here is the lay of the land. We checked the communities Reddit returns for “reptiles” and “snakes”, kept the public, safe-for-work ones with at least 25,000 members that are still posting, and ranked the 12 that remain by size. Together they have 2.6M members.

How the reptiles communities compare

The three largest communities hold about 70% of the combined membership, but the rest of the list is far from empty — that is where most of the specialised discussion happens. The oldest is r/turtles, founded in 2008, and every community here is more than five years old — this is a long-established corner of Reddit.

Choosing where to post

Big subreddits give a post the widest audience, but they also bury it quickly; the mid-sized communities on this list are usually friendlier for questions and first posts. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
