About r/therewasanattempt

In its own words:

Where all the attempts happen

Community guide

r/therewasanattempt is a humour format sub: posts should continue the phrase “There was an attempt…” and show a real, unsuccessful try—not a staged fail. Rank #109 (about 7.2 million subscribers). Rules we collected require an unsuccessful attempt, ban recent reposts, and reject pornographic or death-exhibiting content.

Format

Title completes the template; media shows the failed attempt. Staged attempts are removed. Video dominates our activity sample.

Versus general fail meme subs

Many fail communities accept any awkward clip. Here the title grammar and “real attempt” rule are the brand. If you cannot finish the sentence honestly, the post probably belongs in a generic funny-video sub instead.

Practical pointers

No harassment, no racism, no troll links. Keep vibes within the stated “no bad vibes” / civility constraints as enforced by mods.
