About r/AskReddit
In its own words:
r/AskReddit is the place to ask and answer thought-provoking questions.
Community guide
r/AskReddit (#3, about 60.0 million) is for thought-provoking, open-ended questions—clear and direct in the title, with no body textbox use for the question (Rule 1). It is one of Reddit’s highest-volume text rooms (~4449.7 ppd in samples). Collected rules ban personal/professional advice requests, loaded questions, personal info, goods/rewards begging, and harmful misinformation; [Serious] threads disallow jokes.
Question design
Open-ended only; title carries the question. Image-only replies and giant ascii are removed.
Versus advice and specialist Ask-subs
If you need advice, relationship_advice or professional subs fit better—AskReddit removes advice requests. askscience/AskCulinary want domain framing.
Practical pointers
Be civil; no personal info; respect [Serious] tags.
