About r/NoStupidQuestions
In its own words:
Ask away! Disclaimer: This is an anonymous forum so answers may not be correct
Community guide
r/NoStupidQuestions exists for earnest, answerable curiosity—questions you might hesitate to ask elsewhere. It sits at #102 on our SFW Top 1000 (about 7.6 million subscribers in the directory). The culture is defined less by “anything goes” than by a hard filter on top-level replies: they must be genuine human attempts at an answer, not jokes parked in the first slot. The public disclaimer on the community is blunt: it is anonymous, so answers may be wrong—useful humility for readers.
What belongs here
Straightforward questions across everyday knowledge, with an expectation that people searched the sub first. Medical advice, suicide-related questions, and rape/assault disclosure prompts are explicitly barred in the rules we collected—those need appropriate resources, not this forum.
Versus AskReddit and topic Ask-subs
AskReddit optimises for discussion prompts and anecdote threads. Specialist Ask-subs (for example science or culinary) want domain framing. NoStupidQuestions wants a real attempt at answering in top comments and blocks trolling or joke questions. If you need peer-reviewed depth, askScience-style communities are safer; if you want stories, AskReddit fits better.
Posting practicalities
Search first; keep the question sincere; expect removals for agenda posts, pot-stirring, or illegal/disturbing subject matter. Our activity sample shows essentially all-text posting at very high volume (on the order of a thousand posts per day in the sample window)—visibility is fleeting.
